Description
Larger-diameter spade bits fail the same way smaller ones do — chip packing at depth causes the bit to grab, the drill twists in your hand, and either the bit snaps or the hole walls get torched. With a 7/8-inch bit, the torque loads are higher and the consequences of packing are worse. 7/8-inch diameter handles the larger wire runs, conduit passes, and fixture holes that rough-in and remodel work requires. The higher Speedbor flute clears chips up and out faster than standard flat-flute spade bits — less binding at depth, lower heat, longer bit life in both softwood and pressure-treated lumber. Higher flute design is the functional difference — the extra chip clearance per revolution keeps the bit self-feeding rather than wedging in deeper holes. 1/2-inch hex shank handles the higher torq Stocked at Crofton Lumber and Akron Lumber.
